I’m Melissa, the artist and maker behind Bewildered & Gallus Unicorns.

I’m an independent artist based in Scotland, and this is where all the different things I love creating come together.

Bewildered Unicorn is where I get away from the screen and make things with my hands. It’s home to my Wee Spookies, tiny treasures and other creations made using clay, wool and whatever materials have caught my curiosity.

Gallus Unicorn is home to my original illustrations. What starts as a sketch or an idea in my head can eventually find its way onto stickers, bookmarks, prints, acrylic pins and all sorts of other illustrated bits and pieces.

I’ve never been particularly good at sticking to one kind of art, and these days I’ve decided that’s probably a good thing. Sometimes I want to draw, sometimes I want to make something tiny out of clay, sometimes I discover a new material or technique and immediately wonder what I could do with it.

Not every idea works, and not everything needs to become a product. Sometimes I simply want to find out if I can make the thing that’s appeared in my head.

Curiosity is a big part of both Bewildered & Gallus Unicorns. So whether you’re here for the tiny ghosts, Scottish creatures, stickers, strange little characters or something I haven’t even thought of yet, I hope you find something that makes you smile.
